MAN eTGX (Gen-2, IAA 2026)
MAN's electric flagship, rebuilt for the 2026 IAA with nickel-rich cells that add roughly 10% more energy in the same physical space. It is aimed squarely at 40-tonne long-haul work that used to be considered out of reach for a battery truck, and it is the range leader of the two trucks on this site. It is also the more expensive one by a wide margin.

2What "range" means here
MAN's 720 km is a real number under favourable conditions, but it is not a scheduling number. The gap between the headline and a January motorway run at 40 tonnes is large — that is what the realistic band is for. On a Belgian duty of around 400 km a day, every version here does the job on one overnight charge at the depot, which is the case that matters for cost.
Three different numbers
- 1Claimed. The manufacturer's headline figure. Best case: favourable load, temperature and speed. Do not schedule on this.
- 2Loaded. At full legal payload on a typical motorway duty in mild weather. The honest starting point.
- 3Realistic. What a planner should actually schedule against, year-round, including winter, traffic and a safety reserve.
3Charging
The eTGX is MCS-ready from the factory since July 2026, charging at up to 750 kW. That is enough to add most of a battery over a driver's 45-minute rest. It does not mean you need it: for a depot-based fleet doing under 500 km a day, overnight DC charging at far lower power is cheaper per kWh and cheaper to install. Megawatt charging is what makes the long days possible, not what makes the business case.
4Price and running cost
The purchase price is the whole argument. At an indicative €260k–320k the eTGX costs roughly €60k–120k more than the Windrose R700, and in Belgium that gap has to come back out of fuel and toll savings. Whether it does depends on your fleet size, annual mileage and diesel price — which is exactly what the calculators on this site are for.
